Book for Beginner Witches

Book for Beginner Witches

I get asked regularly what books I recommend for beginners. So I figured it was time to sit down and make a comprehensive list with links. I asked also Twitter, to provide me with any books they recommend so I didn’t forget any! I will say, this isn’t the end all be all, and yes some of these authors may not be your cup of tea, but it is a great launching point for so many! So in no particular order, let’s look at books!

General Books for Beginners

What We Knew in the Night– Raven Grimassi

Year of the Witch– Temperance Alden

Buckland’s Complete Book of Witchcraft-Raymond Buckland

The Crooked Path– Kelden

Grovedaughter Witchery– Bree Nicgarran

Six Ways– Aidan Wachter

Encyclopedia of Spells– Judika Illes

Encyclopedia of Spirits– Judika Illes

Llewellyn’s Complete Book of Correspondences

Farmer’s Almanac (you may think this is a joke, but it’s not and a great recommendation from Temperance Alden)

Cunningham’s Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs– Scott Cunningham

Inner Temple of Witchcraft– Christopher Penczak

The Witch’s Shield– Christopher Penczak

Modern Witch– Devin Hunter

Weave Liminal– Laura Tempest Zakroff

Complete Book of Black Magic and Witchcraft– Shadow Books

Drawing Down the Moon– Margot Adler

Spiral Dance– Starhawk

Divination and Tarot

Psychic Witch– Mat Auryn

Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom– Rachel Pollack

Tarot: No Questions Asked– Theresa Reed

Magickal Tarot– Robyn Valentine (hehe self-plug)

Nordic Runes– Paul Rhys Mountfort

Llewellyn’s Complete Book of Divination

Kitchen Table Tarot – Melissa Cynova

Now, this is a list I plan to keep fluid and growing. Do you have a recommendation you feel was left off the list? Comment below so we can keep it open for everyone!

love this list! 🖤🖤🖤 I also found Kitchen Table Tarot by Melissa Cynova incredibly helpful when I first began my tarot journey.
