Surviving Quarantine as a Witch

Before we begin this blog post, I want to post some significant phone numbers. For some of us, being stuck in isolation is incredibly dangerous, and I want you, reader, to know you are so loved. Please know that if you are having suicidal or self harm thoughts- this is your sign to call a number and talk to someone. You matter.

Grounding

The first thing we can consider incorporating into your daily practice is grounding! Grounding is so so important in spell work, to transfer excess energy from ourselves down to the Earth. It’s a way of keeping our energies level and manageable. You may have found yourself more anxious and overwhelmed lately. And although grounding isn’t going to just make your very real feelings go away, it can help to calm your mind and your energies to a more manageable level. Especially if you are someone who views yourself as an empath, being very real with yourself and how grounded you are is a must.

Cleansing!

Cleansing your life may take more forms than one!

  1. Cleanse your home! Put salt in the corners of the house/rooms. Suffumigate now that the weather is nice enough to crack a window.
  2. Deleting conversations in your phone that are only harboring negative feelings and energies.
  3. Delete their number. Reading this you know who I mean. Go right now to your phone and delete that number.
  4. Cleansing your tarot decks and crystals. When was the last time you did that? Too long, go do it again!

Spell Work to Do Around the Home

  1. Actively make moon water through the cycles, and incorporate them in your morning coffee/tea.
  2. Use your moon water to make rose water, using dried rose!
  3. Taking ritual cleansing baths using your water-safe crystals. (Please please please, be mindful of which crystals you are taking to or around your bath water! For both your safety and the safety of your crystals)
  4. Create sigils for around your home! Take some time, even a few days, to meditate on what you use each room for in your home and what would be most useful for improving that room! Then, make sigils for that! You can make protection sigils for your entryways. Make uniting and harmonizing sigils for your family in your living room/kitchen.
  5. Start a mini herb garden! A lot of us do not have the luxury of gardens or backyards during quarantine and therefore connecting with nature might be more difficult for some! Using recycled jars/cups start a mini herb garden on your window sill! Talk to your plants and watch them grow, still getting to connect with nature while respecting the quarantine.
  6. Look to your pantry for herbs/spices you don’t use often or may be expired. Research how to use these magickally. Now spices/herbs too old to eat, become repurposed for your magickal apothecary.
  7. Learn a new form of divination with the tools you have around your home. Wax divination, smoke divination, tasseomancy, etc!
  8. Begin a divination journal! Daily simple pulls and journal on what that means to you.

Extra Practices

  1. Start yoga. Be honest with yourself on your range of mobility and level of flexibility and start small! Set a simple goal and work towards it for 10 minutes a day!
  2. Go pick up a new book from a witchy author you’ve wanted to read! Money is tight? You can download free ebooks (to read on your phone, tablet, computer) from your local library! A nationwide resource, right at your fingertips!
  3. Practice daily meditations! 5 minutes goes a long way!
  4. Sit down and make some goals for yourself both during quarantine and when it’s over! If you’re a visual person, start a vision board, or put it creatively into your Book of Shadows.
