The Vindur Deck Review

I was approached by the creator of the Vindur Deck back in August of last year about helping with her Kickstarter! And we know, I love an indie artist, so I was happy to help! Months and months later, when I had long forgotten about it, a surprise arrived for me, a copy of her deck, as a lovely little thank you! I was super happy to help promote this Kickstarter, as I think Leah Pantéa really killed it with this minimal modern deck. This deck launched July 31st of last year, and was completely funded exactly one month later on August 31st!

This deck, called “Vindur,” is named for the Icelandic word for wind. The purpose of which is used to reflect Leah’s intention to tap into forces that are deeply felt, but are often unseen. Her gender-neutral artwork features minimalist watercolors, that give a very light but intentional feel to each card in the suit.

The Suits are sorted by the four elements:

Focusing on that energy, Leah has matched the court cards with a second element:

This is a full 78-card tarot deck printed on 2.75″ x 4.75″ 350 gsm matte, anti-scratch laminated card stock. This deck is in full color with painted yellow edging and tuck box.

Now let’s get to my first impressions of this deck!

Leah’s imagery was the entire reason I shared this deck from the get-go. The sleek imagery reminds me of Scandinavian Modernism home design. Which seems to be fitting of its Icelandic namesake. I like that her color choice has been to remain primary. Although there’s nothing wrong with (of course) with using every color in the rainbow, I am a sucker for simple color schemes. We love a color scheme.

Checking at the shuffability, as we all know by now, how important that is to my chubby baby hands, it isn’t shufflable in my two hands. Now as I’ve stated every other time this has been an issue, I have tiny hands, so take that into account. The velvet-like coating on this deck makes slide shuffling slightly difficult, however, it floor shuffles with ease. I think the slide shuffling issue I had though again, is because my hands are like that of a 2-month-old baby.

This fun deck is sleek and clear. I was given the guide book with it and her interpretations of her own cards, are easy to read. I think with this pairing, even if you were new to tarot, this deck would be quick to pick up. The imagery doesn’t stray too far off class RWS imagery either. It is its own design, but it’s not so far off that it couldn’t be applied to a basic knowledge of the RWS imagery or vice versa.

To put it plainly, I love this deck! I have clients that are going to mesh really well with the energy of this deck and think that if you like clean imagery, this is a great deck option. I would without a doubt recommend this to you, but also even buy it for a friend!

As I previously stated, my baby hands can’t rifle shuffle, but it shuffles every other way!

The touch of the yellow edging and the box quality, really takes it to the next level.
