This month’s photos were taken in the Redwood Park, near Crescent City, California. One of the most magickal places, in my opinion. If you ever get the opportunity to go, definitely take it.
Featured Tarot Deck: Soul Life Tarot
Some notable dates this month include:
Full Moon in Cancer: January 10th (Penumbral Eclipse)
New Moon in Aquarius: January 24th
Aries: Mar 21 – Apr 20
The Eight of Swords can show us anxiety; a fear of what cannot be seen, nor controlled. Aries, you may find yourself this month stuck in a situation where you aren’t certain how to get out of it, or how to fix the situation. Mind you, anxiety can run the show for so many of us, remember to use your coping skills to manage the stress. If you don’t have healthy coping skills, focus this month on developing them! There are a lot of great and free resources out there! Mental health is important and real.
Now on a less severe end of the spectrum, the Eight of Swords can indicate confusion over a situation. You may not know where to go next or what your next move is going to be, so you remain trapped and immobilized. Sometimes the burden of choice, or even lack of full knowledge, is enough to stop any of us from completing our tasks. Remember to take breaks, step back and view the situation with as calm and level of a mind as possible. Sometimes it just takes, stepping back, to be able to see the situation isn’t as immobilizing as it felt.
Taurus: April 21- May 21
Oh Taurus, this feels so fitting for the New Year! The World signals the end of a chapter of one’s life, the end of a whole section of a life journey. You could be getting a degree, having a child leave home, getting married. These are all beginnings and endings while signaling the end of one stage and the transition to another. This card is much like Death, but instead of something being over that needs being over, you have instead, completed a phase of your life you’ve worked hard to get to. In some extreme situations, the World can suggest that you might win an award or prize.
The World advises you to recognize an ending of the “something” we have seen above. It also tells you to be happy, content and complete within yourself and in your own world. The World tells us to enjoy your situation. You earned it.
Gemini: May 22- June 21
Well Gemini, it’s time to either give help or receive it, which side are you? You can either be the symbolic man getting the handout or the man giving the handout. If you are the man who is receiving know that it is okay to ask for help. Welfare of any kind isn’t a bad thing if you need it. Just be aware of the lesson of the other man and spend your money wisely. Use your money to make more money, if you can. Make sure you are spending whatever help you get, wisely.
The other meaning of the Six of Pentacles can be from the view of the man giving the donations. It is okay to give away your wealth (wealth can be money, time, love, etc), especially if you have more than you need. Good karma will result from such a good deed, but be aware that if you only give because you think that it will result in good karma, then it really isn’t a good deed. It is a selfish act. Do it because you care, not because of what you will get in return for it.
Cancer: June 22- July 22
Uh Oh, my Cancer babies. The Reversed Magician feels his “divine spark” comes from him and not from above, thus being all about the ego. He is a bit narcissistic and only believes in himself. Unlike the upright Magician, who is empowered by the supreme creator, the reversed Magician indicates an atheist or nihilist. They look at short term strategies and not long-term goals. This person has a limited sense of gratitude.
In an extreme sense of this card, we look at it as a warning. Not just a warning of how we behave but of the situation around us. The Reversed Magician indicates a trickster, a con artist or gambler. He is a sweet-talking man who can convince anyone of anything. This man could sell sand to a camel. Be very careful when you see the Magician Reversed. This man feels empowered through his charisma and tends to misuse it.
Leo: July 23- August 23
The King of Pentacles we love to see, for anyone, and we especially love to see it for you Leos! The King of Pentacles can suggest a strong potential outcome, a life you are happy with if you’re willing to work for it. It isn’t about earning money, it’s about reaching your potential. If you have a goal in mind, you must start today. Expect good things if you are looking to start a business. Remember that he is the king for a reason. He got there because he is the highest potential of all the rest of the suit.
Although yes, it’s not about money, it’s about potential. With potential often comes money. The two go hand in hand. He loves structure and hard work. And with it, we see a wealthy man. Consider that you can reach your full potential, and reap the rewards.
Virgo: August 24- September 22
The Knight of Pentacles in a reading means that you are working slowly on a project. It symbolizes being at the mid-way point. The Knight often comes up for College students, or similar. Sometimes we can see them as pregnant women, halfway through their gestation. The Knight of Pentacles can be about being in the mid- point of any type of situation.
The Knight of Pentacles can also suggest that the near future will be structured and methodical. If you’re aiming for a goal, stick to the plans you’ve set out. Sometimes, people can ask things of us that disrupt what we want to do, but it’s usually better to help others over yourself first. Remember, half waypoints mean that we still have half the work to do! Make a plan, and stick to it.
Libra: September 23- October 23
Ah Libras, this is far better than last month’s “Check Yourself” I started with! The Five of Pentacles when reversed has far better qualities than it’s upright self. The window we see ourselves looking into suddenly becomes a door, welcoming us in. Expect an end to any financial or material hardship. Have you just been ‘coping’ up until now? Expect this tough period to come to an end.
You may feel like something is currently missing in your life. Maybe you do not have a larger goal, it’s likely that you feel without purpose in life. If this is the case, don’t worry. We all go through these periods. The lull is almost over, and the light is at the end of the tunnel. When it seems like its getting better, it is, don’t fight it.
Scorpio: October 24- November 22
Judgment appears to us Scorpios when the time for change and rebirth, is now. Its appearance advises you to embrace what you have done. There is no looking back, so do not try to cover up what you have done or make excuses for the past. The past will always remain the past and there is no changing it. Now is a good time to come to terms with the things that you have done. Come to terms with it, accept it and get over it. Judgement is also the card of letting go, especially letting go of regret. There is nothing you can do to change the past, but you can change the future.
In some cases, Judgement can indicate a spiritual rebirth or awakening. This is a time for a change. If you’ve found me because of Instagram, my assumption is you are either a witch or witch considering. Consider embracing your curiosity, maybe this is the spiritual rebirth that you are called to.
Sagittarius: November 23- December 21
Well, this isn’t as bad as it seems, but it’s also not great. There are a few methods of thought when it comes to the Wheel of Fortune reversed. In my experience, it’s not bad luck but instead diluted luck. Slow, and minor. Basically, the luck is so slow and minor its unnoticeable. However, other people, and in some cases even my own experience, the luck turns on us. It becomes bad luck.
Regardless if we are looking at a slightly less lucky or bad luck situation, we are definitely looking at imbalances. You may have been experiencing a lack of control in your life recently like the universe is working against you. Look at and address the imbalances in your life. Too much time, or not enough time working? Look to address the lack of ongoing balance.
Capricorn: December 22- January 20
Happy Birth Caps! The Two of Cups does not have to primarily be about romance, though that is usually the first impression based on the card imagery. The Two of Cups can be about any two people who come together and share mutual respect, love, and friendship. The Two of Cups is a meeting of the minds. In my experience, I often see this when a relationship or a new chapter of a relationship has begun. It can be moving in together (romantic or platonic), getting engaged, getting married, etc. It’s a union in a variety of sorts.
The Two of Cups can indicate a new romance or friendship but remember like all new relationships this one will have to be nurtured. It’s the beginning. Anything can happen next. The Two of Cups when looking to the future suggests that you should look to your existing friendships and relationships for inspiration in the future. You know these people well, and nobody gets anywhere alone. The Two of Cups can suggest a strong, happy healthy relationship.
Aquarius: January 21- February 18
New Year, New You, as corny and overdone as that expression is, Aquarius. The Death card signifies an end to a chapter. This isn’t the end of a happy hard-worked, chapter. Instead, we see you shedding a chapter, that no longer serves you. Whether you are shedding toxic friendships, relationships, etc- it’s officially the past. Don’t dwell on it. You made the right choice. So look forward to the next chapter, and start making plans for your new life.
Remember that Death is a transformation. When part of us dies, a part of us is also, reborn. We shed the fat, to make room for new loves. Seriously, I can’t say this enough, don’t dwell on it.
Pisces: February 19- March 20
Okay Pisces, time to walk away instead of fighting. There is no winning with the Five of Swords. You are either walking away from a fight, or the one overly prepared for a fight that doesn’t come. There is no fighting and therefore no winning. Just walk away from the situation as a whole.
The Five of Swords may signal defeat. You may just want to throw down your swords and walk away from something. You may have not realized that you needed to walk away from the beginning, but there comes a breaking point. You may have reached a breaking point where you just don’t want to fight anymore. In some extreme cases, you may find yourself in a situation where someone is using slander, bribery or other unethical means to fight you. Someone may be gossiping and spreading false rumors. There is no use fighting with this kind of person. Know who you are, and go to bed with your conscious clean.
