Lovely Omens Tarot Deck Review

I don’t think I could postpone doing this review for much longer. You all have been asking me pretty consistently to review the Lovely Omens tarot deck, by Keely Elle. Keely is a talented and popular artist, whose whimsical deck is one of my client favorites.

The Lovely Omens deck was worked on throughout her Instagram for the better part of a year. With much anticipation from her already established fanbase, Keely’s Kickstarter was fully funded in under 48 hours. Until recently, it feels like 6 months now, maybe a bit longer, (this is truly my memory, not information from Keely) she was selling out of the deck almost as quick as she could get orders in. I myself was lucky to snag one in a giveaway last December and has quickly become a go-to, not just for my personal Instagram, but for client readings. So let’s get down to why we are all here.

This is a 78 card deck measuring the traditional 2.75 in x 4.5in. This deck comes in a rigid two-piece hard box (my personal favorite). The imagery of this deck has a slight nod to traditional Rider-Waite imagery, but its fun, cute and unique.

The suits are broken up into the traditional; Majors, Cups, Pentacles, Swords, and Wands. However, the cute thing is she has given them each a bit of a visual uniqueness. Cups, for example, are done in the style of teacups. Pentacles have pentacles, yes, but the theme/vibe is based around cats. While the other two minors have a more directly traditional interpretation.

As I’ve already stated, this is my favorite deck for clients and here is why. Firstly the shuffability of this deck is unbeatable. Not only is it the traditional sizing, which makes it easy for my baby hands to hold, but the high gloss finish makes it easy to glide and spread out. As we all know by now, I like a riffle shuffling. This deck easily glides through shuffling, making the experience gentle and soft.

My overwhelming use and experience with this deck also makes it a client favorite, because she reads gently. Medicine with sugar, if you will. This deck, with my experience, will tell you the hard truth, in a nice way, which is why it’s my favorite deck to use for love readings. Sometimes we all need to know that they just aren’t into you anymore, but saying it nicely… well that’s better received.

Overall I would recommend this deck to anyone who likes; this cute interpretation of the traditional imagery, easy shuffling, convenient storage boxes, and has a baseline familiarity with card meanings.

Suitable for Beginners

Normally I would not recommend such a unique deck for a beginner, but I feel the symbolism makes it still suitable for a beginner.
