Synesthesia Tarot Deck Review

Up next for our tarot deck reviews, is the absolutely stunning Synesthesia Tarot deck, by Jana Walker.

This deck was first launched, much like the Neon Moons, and many decks (to be honest) on Kickstarter, on September 3, 2018, nearly tripling the deck’s original goal! Jana was kind enough to send me a copy to review, and I was blown away! To my knowledge and research, this is her first tarot deck, and what a deck to launch with!

 This is a 78 card deck, with both Major and Minor Arcana… not enough people say when they’re both, I’m going to make sure to include this from here on out, no more surprise, only Majors decks! (we hate them!) It is a standard card size of 2.75 x 4.75! Something to note about this deck is it also comes in a folding lid, magnetized box. I mean the quality here, is some of the best I’ve ever seen, and I do not say that lightly.

My first impressions of this deck, honestly blew me the fuck out of the water, pardon my french. I don’t know who Jana’s printing press was, but the quality of this card stock is so unbelievable. When I pulled the top card out, to give this a look over, I nearly screamed. It’s the thickest card-stock I’ve felt on a tarot deck, and the matte quality makes it feel like actual buttercream?? How that is possible, I am not certain but here we are.

Each suit is color code, which I am living for! This hyper minimal deck, brings its own degree of flavor and flare, by breaking up the suits with brightly chosen colors!

Majors= All Black

Cups= Blue

Pentacles= Green

Swords= Purple

Wands= Red

My favorite part of this deck, is the edges are matte black, which is an insanely dark shade of black. Contrasting with its velvety black front and back, it almost makes the sides look like a black hole, and it’s incredible.

Now, with all the amazing, positive and radiant things I could say about this deck and its quality, there is always a con, right? The con is its almost TOO high quality. The card-stock is so perfect and quality, that it makes shuffling Rifle style, difficult. But that is the only style of shuffle that I found hard. If you aren’t familiar with rifle style, it’s the split deck, fan into each other. Now I recognize most tarot readers don’t shuffle this way anyway, so if you are one of the many, you won’t have any issues here. Also, I have very very small hands, so that is also a very likely contributing factor to my shuffling issues.
